Is anyone currently cross-shopping the Armada PRO-4X and the Expedition Tremor? Here's a quick comparison between the two big off-road SUVs:
• Armada PRO-4X: With two-tone paint and the Premium Package, MSRP is around $79K.
• Expedition Tremor: Similarly equipped, it comes in closer to $84K.
• Armada: About 20 inches of depth behind the 3rd row (~20.4 ft³).
• Expedition: Around 22 inches (~21.6 ft³ with seats up).
• Edge goes to the Expedition here, but both are usable.
• Armada PRO-4X: 4WD standard, electronic locking rear diff, adaptive air suspension, skid plates, and strong off-road geometry/modes.
• Expedition Tremor: Trail 1-Pedal, Rock Crawl Mode, Trail Turn Assist, ~10.6 inches of clearance, and rugged Tremor hardware.
• Ride quality: Expedition is smoother overall, though the new Armada suspension is a big improvement and much closer than past years.
• Liftgate: Expedition’s split-gate design makes it harder to reach items when the 3rd row is down. Armada has a more traditional liftgate.
• Resale: Historically, Armada hasn’t held its value as well in the U.S. market.
• Technology & Safety:
• Armada: ProPILOT 2.1 hands-free driving, Biometric Cooling, Klipsch audio, IIHS Top Safety Pick+.
• Expedition: BlueCruise, large infotainment screens, multiple off-road modes, flexible seating, and the split-gate tailgate.
